Rev. Clementin Grosskopf, age 80, passed away Wednesday morning at Mercy Hospital.
He was born May 17, 1899 in Harbor Springs, Mich. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Grosskopf.
He was received into the Franciscan Order, June 21, 1920 in Teutopolis, Ill. and ordained to the
priesthood June 24, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Father "Clem" served as a missionary in China, 1928-1938 and 1940-1943 and as assistant
at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Muskegon, 1949-1967. After a brief stay at St. John Baptist Church,
Joliet, Ill. and Holy Trinity Church, Dubuque, Iowa , he returned to St. Thomas in 1971 where he was
in residence until the time of illness that led to his death.
The survivers include 1 brother, Rev. Paulinus Grosskopf O.F.M. of Oak Brook, Ill,
2 sisters, Mrs. Hilda Connell of Lansing an Sister Pauline, O.S.F.
Father's body will be welcomed within St. Thomas Church in accord with appropriate liturgy at
7:30 this evening. He will lie in state at the church this evening until 10 P.M. and Friday, 7 A.M to 10 P.M.
THE WAKE SERVICE: At St. Thomas Church Friday evening at 8 o'clock.
The CON-CELEBRATED MASS will be held Saturday at 11:30 A.M., Most Rev. Bishop Joseph Breitenbeck, D.D., Celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
For a more lasting MEMORIAL, donations will be accepted for the education of Franciscan Brothers and Priests.
